Drama Recap: Vanila Coklat Ep. 2

At the end of episode 1 both Zara and Amir were left speechless because both their parents wanted them to get married. At the age of 19. To. each. other.

So simultaneous strong objections were immediately raised in their respective houses at the start of episode 2. From logical reasoning (yes, parents. They’re still 19!) to one badmouthing the other. It’s all “burung kakak tua vs mamat poyo”.  What got me lol-ing was the fact that Zara’s mom was looking all dramatic when her daughter was going on how bad Amir is but actually she was not reacting to what Zara was saying but rather to the drama on the TV she was watching. Haha. I’d be greatly fumed if I was Zara.

But all those have no effect on the determined couple set parents. Both fathers even agreed on joining forces to make sure their children will be successfully married to each other. It was being revealed that Zara’s dad once saved Amir’s dad’s life when they were young. That left Amir’s father hugely indebted to Zara’s dad. (but still, parents. There are other ways of saying thank you other than forcing your children to marry each other. Tsk. Okay, okay I know this is for sake of the plot development of the story. I geddit and shall let this pass. Haha).

Later in their Psychology class, while flirting with Liana, Amir offered to to treat the whole class for a trip to the zoo after their presentations just to tick Zara off. He even mentioned that he specifically loves parrot. Lol. Zara played along and mentioned that there are also camels in the zoo that looks very much like someone in the class who had fake eyelashes (Liana) on and Amir immediately went on talking about how unique parrots are. Childish children we are having here. Haha.

And their childish bicker continues outside the class, like always.

Amir approached Liana, asking her to meet his parents. Before he even get to mention it was for the purpose of pretending to be his girlfriend (to make them stop forcing him to marry Zara), the excited Liana decided to go on a shopping spree with her friends, pronto.

As expected, the parents gave her could shoulders and were not fond of Liana's behaviour as they discovered her true colours without her knowing. So Amir’s Plan A of Stopping The Marriage failed.

Zara, on the other hand was surprised upon her arrival from college as she was greeted by Amir in her house and her mom was not in sight. He asked him to leave but he said he would with one condition. That they should do what married couples do. He tried forcing himself on Zara and the poor girl shrieked in fear asking for help. Her call for help was answered by her mom, who slapped her into reality as she was actually having a nightmare. Lololol. What a nightmare.

When she saw him flirting in the college, she took him by her hand, away from Liana. She warned him to not let even a single person in college knows about their parents arrangement. That Amir cannot let her be embarrassed because of this. Amir laughed it off and agree (though in a more conceited way) but told her that Kamal could probably be an exception, just to tease Zara.

As for Zara’s Plan A of Stopping The Marriage, she sent a random person to tell her father that ’I came here as I was sent by the wind. I had a premonition that two souls cannot be forced to be together’ or some sort. Lolol. The father refused to believe so because it would amounts to Syirik. Keke. Like Amir, Zara’s Plan A has failed, too.

Then it came to the desperate measures:

When the parents are discussing further on their marriage over a meal (brunch, maybe) at her house, Zara purposely join them in her pajamas, looking all scary + shabby with bedak sejuk / facial mask all over her face and unmanaged hair. She behaved like a loony haha. She even declared that she was yet to brush her teeth and burped out loud to scare away her potential parents in laws. Hahahaha. Even Amir himself is tickled to laugh openly to see her like that.

But sadly, the parents did not fall for such a trap. Haha.

Depressed Zara cannot stop thinking about the arranged marriage she is about to be trapped in. She wanted a husband who is kind and smart. It’s not about the money nor the looks. Her ideal husband is someone who is loving and has the ability to make her feel like she is the brightest star and that someone is nowhere near that Mamat Poyo - Amir. The only way of getting away from such a crazy thing is by doing another crazy thing - running away from home. She did have a heavy heart to leave because the love she has for her parents and that she can barely survive out there since she is so used of being pampered. However, after contemplating she still packed her belongings.

Amir, on the other hand was having a heated argument with his father about the same matter. He hurt his father with his words that later made his father suffered a heart attack.

Zara was silently pulling her luggage as she planned on running away in the middle of the night when the parents were soundly sleeping. Who would have thought it would be such a wrong move? It is because her parents were being woken up by an emergency call from Datin Dalila, mentioning that Dato’ Ahmad is in the hospital. And she ended up being towed to the hospital together with them. Lol.

They arrived at the hospital when Amir was being greatly scolded by his mother for causing his father to be in his current condition. Zara’s dad immediately went into the ward to check on his best friend’s condition while the others nervously wait at the outside.

Poor Amir’s dad, laying on the bed in such a pain until his best friend went inside and asked him to stop pretending. Lmao. …Dato’ tipu lagi lagi dan lagi. Liars liars pants on fire! Hmmph! He asked Zara’s dad to make it quick and so he could quickly finish off his acting gig.

Zara’s dad went outside, played his part by acting all melancholy telling the others it’d be best if Dato’s wishes to be fulfilled if he ever has one. Pfft. That resulted Amir’s mom immediately putting the blame all on Amir and that made Amir felt guiltier than ever. Dr. Ungku Musa called Amir, telling him that once Dato’ Ahmad mentioned that should anything happen to him, Amir is the first person he wishes to see. Tsk.

The next day Zara had to follow her parents to the hospital where Dato' Ahmad was about to tell Amir his ~deathbed wishes~. In an exaggeration drama acting of his, Dato' Ahmad asked Amir to promise him that he will marry Zara. The deceived, grieved and struck by guilty boy placed his glance once at Zara as if asking her permission (but she was like having the nooooooooooooo bitch nooo! expression lol) before facing back to his father, saying

"Amir janji"
